Welcome to Eby in Japan

Welcome to Eby in Japan, the blog dedicated to intrepid adventurers everywhere!. . . Well, ok, so this is really dedicated to all those friends and relatives worried about never hearing from me again once I move to Japan! Fear not, I'll attempt to keep the site fairly interesting at most times, and if there's absolutely nothing exciting happening in my Japanese life, I'll just make things up. . . so prepare to be amused by the text, awed by the photos, and probably slightly annoyed by a lack of updates on the blog. . .

Could I possibly resist being the first blogger on, the soon to be famous throughout Asia and the Civilized World, "Eby in Japan" website? I think not. Wow, August 16th is E.in J.-Day. So today would be E.in J.-Day minus 22. Outstanding. Eby, I am so excited for you and your one-millionth adventure. I'm looking forward to reading the soon-to-be-blogged story of you getting caught by thundershowers in the middle of the Japanese countryside with nothing but a 5 Yen rain poncho and a pocket-full of rice. Or the soon-to-be-classic story of how you outfoxed the Yakuza top-three in a suicide game of "Risk" ...I can't wait.
You're in my thoughts and prayers.

May I recommend a couple of great Japanese films to fellow Ebyites and bloggers? "The Seven Samurai' and "Yojimbo" are must sees. In glorious black and white. Not only are they incredible films which many Western film directors and films have been influenced by but they also have tremendous insight into ancient Japanese culture. Oh, and "Lost in Translation" as well...about an American girl bored out of her skull in Japan (until she meets Bill Murray). Almost completely appropriate except I think Eby will be much too busy to be bored...although she may find time to become infatuated with Bill Murray. I mean, who wouldn't find time for that?

Ok, so I clicked on your link "Where I ride" and found that it's (of course) in Japanese. So, I start clicking on links that I have no idea where they are going to lead to...just looking for pictures :) Happy to find a picture of a pretty white horse with a black puppy on its back. I also like the map they've made (how to get to the riding stables, I guess) and the little horse icon - very nice :) After you learn Japanese, can you teach me? Like Rich, I can't wait to see pictures and hear about your new adventures. As a mommy in Virginia, I live vicariously through you, ya know.
